ARTC Solar Installation, Adelaide.

The ARTC project was one of our most complex and high-stakes installations to date. With only one opportunity to get it right, meticulous planning and execution were critical.
Due to the configuration of the electrical main switchboard, a full site shutdown was required to integrate the solar system into the network. This presented a significant challenge, as uninterrupted power was essential for critical data mainframes that control the Australian Rail Network.
To ensure a seamless transition, we designed and coordinated a backup power solution using two diesel generators. Extensive risk assessments, contingency plans, and system checks were put in place to guarantee a smooth changeover when the mains were switched off.
After months of planning and collaboration with upper management, we received approval to proceed with the task. DQ Electrical engaged QUB Engineering to manage the generators, leveraging their expertise and familiarity with the site to maintain power to all critical systems. Meanwhile, our team focused on the network-side connection and system changeover.
We are incredibly proud to have completed this complex project two hours ahead of the estimated downtime, delivering a successful outcome for all stakeholders.
